Product description
Finally: a freeride snowboard from Public
The Public Research is brand new to the line and designed for freeride without losing sight of Public's freestyle core. The directional shape with taper lets you float effortlessly over powder, while the sophisticated technologies provide snap and pop. The lightweight poplar core and a sintered base round off the Research and make it ready to conquer the expanses of the backcountry with you.
Riding Style
The research is geared towards freeriding with a touch of freestyle. The directional shape with taper lifts the nose, which lets you float effortlessly over powder. It's also aligned with carbon stringers that any rider looking for a slightly more aggressive ride will love.
Shape
The directional shape ensures uplift for trips out into the powder, offers stability and control and guarantees pop. The taper means the nose is wider than the tail and promotes smooth turn entry and exit, stability at speed and enhanced deep snow uplift. The larger volume in the front area allows you to make effortless turns in deep and soft snow and increases the float enormously.
Profile
The rocker zones on the nose and tail give this board a playful and forgiving feel, while the camber between the bindings provides edge control and agility.
Flex
The medium flex is ideal for the freeride design of this board. Hard enough for powerful turns but still soft enough for a playful ride
Construction
The lightweight poplar core is reliable and predictable, while carbon stringers provide incredible pop and snap. Urethane sidewalls reliably dampen impacts and vibrations. The sintered base is fast and stays that way if you take good care of it.

Snowboards are usually delivered ready-to-ride with a waxed base and sharpened edges. However, this so-called factory-tuning is not very durable and your new snowboard should be properly waxed after a few days and maintained on a regular basis.
