Slovenia is one of Europe's smaller countries and mainly known for the picturesque Soca Valley, their mountainsides with the accompanying outdoor activities and their surprisingly high number of top athletes in mainstream sports. What it hasn't been well known for, is its richness in skateable spots. Marco Kada wanted to film some tricks for an upcoming part, but a trip is not as fun when you're the only one skating, so we gathered the Blue Tomato team riders Levi and Lenni together with our friend and trusted photographer Hannes Mautner to complete the crew.
The travel group already found three spots before they had even checked into their appartment loacted close to the capital Ljubljana - just a glimpse of what's possible in this small country. From creative spots, handrails that are actually possible to ride, perfect curbs and gaps, ... everyone found something to ride. Special thanks to Marko Fogy, who was the local tour guide during the time and showed them loads of spots. The motivation was through the roof and they pushed each other to deliver their best skateboarding. Lenni was on fire at every spot, Levi's technical skateboarding always looks like a real life video game and Marco's endless motivation is something every crew needs.
The evenings were spent being entertained by Lenni's supply of classic Austrian Trash TV and fail videos while recovering from the whole day of skateboarding.
Lenni and Marco seemed to have spent too many days in the Gym, as they were trying to make the run up for a spot easier by moving a bike rack, but accidently pulled out the rack including the slab it was bolted to. After getting everything back in place, Lenni still had the durability to put down no less than 6 tricks despite the tricky runup.
Thanks to everyone for their motivation and putting down all these bangers!
