686 was founded in 1992 by the passionate and enthusiastic skater, snowboarder and visionary Michael Akira . Michael was involved in the Hermosa and Venice Beach skate scenes in California before a friend of his introduced him to snowboarding in 1985. He spent the following years working and shredding at his home mountain of Big Bear until he came to the realisation that he couldn't waste a second more… and 686 Snowwear was born.Ever since the beginning, the aim of 686 has been to make innovative, on-trend, high quality clothing inspired by Los Angeles street culture and the mountain lifestyle that lead to the creation of 686.
