Snowboards for women, men and children – what makes the difference?
It is often only small details in the construction that differentiate snowboards for women, men and children. However, these seemingly small details make a big difference. Specific women's snowboards are often softer and available in shorter lengths. Models for children have an extremely forgiving ride, while men's snowboards are designed for the often higher rider weight.
The different types of snowboards
Whether freestyle, all-mountain, freeride or splitboard - at Blue Tomato, you'll find the right board for every riding style.
- Freestyle boards are ideal for tricks in the park.
- All-mountain boards can be used in a variety of ways throughout the resort.
- Freeride boards are perfect for untouched deep snow slopes.
- Splitboards are ideal for off-piste tours - uphill on two boards, downhill on one.
Profile and shape of a snowboard
Each profile offers unique advantages for different conditions and preferences.
- The traditional camber profile gives you maximum edge hold and is therefore ideal for powerful carving.
- A rocker is playful with its central pivot point, easy to turn and characterised by higher flotation.
- The perfect mix of the two is hybrid camber and hybrid rocker.
- The Powder Rocker offers the best flotation in fresh snow and is specifically designed for deep snow.
- A zero snowboard profile lies flat on the snow, it is stable and balanced.
- Snowboards with 3D-Base are characterised by increased flotation, less tipping and improved mobility thanks to the slightly curved edges in the tip and tail.
A lot has also changed in terms of shape over the last 30 years. Directional, Twin, Directional Twin, Directional Tapered or asymmetrical are available to choose from. Our experts will be happy to help you with questions about profile, shape and area of use via chat, email and phone. Or you can visit one of our shops near you.
