The best skateboard brands 2024

Skateboarding goes beyond subculture for us. It is one of our pillars and part of our lives. That's why we want to showcase remarkable skate brands, established veterans or influential newcomers, each with their unique focus to you.

Primitive

California has always been a nourishing ground for skate brands and creatives. With Primitive, the Golden State once again delivers on all fronts. Pro-skater Paul Rodriguez, the face and owner of the brand, has captured the hearts of skateboarders and non-skateboarders alike with his extraordinary designs and passion for the sport. Primitive's artistic and creative aspect has been unquestionable, especially after its feature on Vogue's website.
The Los Angeles-based brand produces high-quality boards and clothing that inspire both skateboarders and art lovers. Each of the unique designs does its part to ensure that skateboarding, whether inside or outside the core scene, doesn't lose its significance, and for that, we celebrate Paul and Primitive.

Welcome

Welcome is a skateboard company that stands out with its distinctive approach. It originated as a creative outlet for a close group of friends who value their boards' quality, shape, and feel more than flashy graphics. Even though we have to say that their desings still are super sick. They consider themselves as a skate family that invites others to embark on their adventures.

Welcome offers more than just fancy decks. They also have a great selection of streetwear and accessories.

Grizzly

Grizzly Griptape was founded by professional skateboarder Torey Pudwill when he was only 12 years old. He used a baking pan shaped like a grizzly bear, borrowed from his mother, to create skate wax which he initially supplied to his friends and local skaters. Seven years later, he teamed up with Diamond Supply Co. to expand the Grizzly range, creating the iconic grip tape with a distinctive bear design, unrivaled grip, and perforations to prevent bubbles.

Grizzly now offers a range of products, including grip tapes, skate wax, and funky streetwear.

Polar Skate

Polar Skate Co., founded by pro-skater and artist Pontus Alv in Malmö in 2011, has significantly impacted the skateboarding scene. Alv's unconventional and creative approach turned skateboarding on its head, and his unique skate videos made him a well-known name in the industry. Today, the Polar Skate Co. team includes exceptional talents such as Nick Boserio, Oskar Rozenberg, and Aaron Herrington. The company was also instrumental in bringing back the Baggy Pants trend with their Big Boy Pants, the first 90s-inspired pants to hit the skate scene long before they became mainstream again.

Their streetwear and skateboarding hard goods collections feature striking graphics, high-quality materials, and they prioritize producing garments under fair conditions close to their Portugal headquarters.

GLOBE

In the mid-1980s, the Hill brothers Stephen, Peter and Matt founded a brand that distributed third-party brands in the Australian boardsports scene. A short time later, they developed their own brand: GLOBE, starting with shoes for surfers and skaters and expanding relatively quickly into streetwear and hardgoods. Today, in addition to their shoes, they are primarily known for their high-quality complete skateboards. The same crew of boardsports enthusiasts who started the brand have grown into an international community of riders and designers connected through boardsports, street culture, media, design and film. With all the experience GLOBE has gained over the decades, it is one of the skate brands with the greatest expertise in its sector.

With new collections, the focus is particularly on quality and sustainability in order to protect our environment on the one hand and to be a role model for other brands on the other.

Element

Johnny Schillereff founded Element in 1992 with the explicit aim of developing the best skateboard products while paying attention to sustainability and ethical practices. He also wanted to incorporate culture and nature into the brand. Element has been committed to sustainability and promoting social and environmental awareness for almost 30 years.

Element products are trusted by professionals such as Brandon Westgate, Mark Appleyard, Nick Garcia, Jaakko Ojanen, Madars Apse and many more.

DGK

Dirty Ghetto Kids, aka DGK, was created on the streets of Philadelphia by pro skater Stevie Williams. DGK stand out thanks to their colorful and comedic graphics - be it on decks, wheels or streetwear - aiming to bring the fun back to skateboarding. It's all about taking a step back and not taking yourself too seriously. Being on the market for more than 20 years, DGK have gained a massive following and have several successful collaborations to their name.

Zero

Zero came to life at a time when skateboarding was feeling slightly stiff and preppy. Founder Jamie Thomas wanted to cater to the underdog, bringing back the raw and powerful ruggedness of skateboarding. With some of the most influential skate videos to date and a whole new take on graphics on their decks, Zero made it to the top of the line at the turn of the century. With a pro team that puts most other brands to shame, Jamie Thomas has been able to continue building and expanding his dream.
