Freestyle Roots 2024

The sporting world will once again be turned upside down when the fourth edition of Freestyle Roots takes place at the Stockhorn Arena in Thun from 11th to 13th October. Stars from Switzerland and abroad will compete in a friendly contest of sport and culture.

The Rocket Air Bike event at the Grabengut ice rink in Thun has been a must-attend stop for many stars of the Freestyle Mountain Bike World Tour for 10 years. Now the event that combines speed, precision, and acrobatics on a bike is making a small comeback. As part of the fourth edition of Freestyle Roots, the organising committee is launching the Pocket Air event - a tribute to the event that catapulted Thun onto the international mountain bike map.

In contrast to previous years, this year's Freestyle Routes from 11th to 13th October at the Stockhorn Arena upgrades to a new bike set-up. This leads to more creativity thanks to versatile transitions and changes. In short: the highest demands for the riders - and the best entertainment for the audience!

But that's not all: Freestyle Roots is much more than ‘just’ mountain biking. Alongside The Hague and Innsbruck, Thun is one of three stops on the Rock a Rail tour, where the best snowboarders and freestyle skiers compete against each other. Athletes from all over Europe and the USA are expected to take part.

Musically, Jule X and the Fischermätteli Hood Gang, two of the scene's absolute top acts, will take centre stage at the Battle of Freestyle on Saturday evening. The floor will be on fire on Friday evening when the best dance acts compete in the breaking final and the punk band Uristier performs. And of course, there will be late-night partying at the after-parties on Friday and Saturday: with the DJs Frutti di Mare - two Laaxers who will be creating an après-ski atmosphere just in time for the start of the season.

As in previous years, Freestyle Roots 2024 will once again offer a wide range of opportunities to try out workshops or sports activities - street art and street dance are just two of them. And let's not forget the wide-range programme on Kids Day on Sunday with reduced admission or free admission for all under-16s.
