For Alterego sustainability is not a trend, but more a constant throughout their entire production cycle. Over 80% of the waste material from production is recycled at the moment and the brand’s goal is to recycle 100% of the waste. In addition, cork from Sardinian oak, a highly renewable resource, is used as the base for the structure of the surfboards. Cork has many characteristics that are ideal for surfing: it is hard yet flexible and resistant to heat, cold and water.
They spent 3 years developing and testing their ACT 2.0 Active Cork Technology.
What is ACT 2.0?
ACT 2.0 Active Cork Technology is an innovative core design with internal curved cork stringers. Cork is ideal for vibration damping, allowing speed control even in unstable conditions. The cork stringers dampen your ride and act as shock absorbers for your ankles and knees. They also provide extra pop for radical maneuvers. Unique flex and soft rebound give every surfer, no matter what level, an instant natural feeling.
