The best surfskates brands

Our experts have tested this season's brand new surfskates and made a selection of the best brands and board types for you.

The sea is a long way from you, the next surf park too, but you still want to feel the sensation of riding waves? Then a surf skate, which allows you to move around playfully on four wheels, is just the thing for you. The flexible construction of the trucks, the wide decks and softer wheels enable dynamic riding performance and smooth, creative moves. Numerous skateboard brands such as Globe, Santa Cruz and Arbor are now catching the surfskate wave and creating models in a variety of styles. The brands Carver and YOW are among the pioneers of these unique moves with their surfskates, which are inspired by surfing on ocean waves and are often used by surf pros for training in the dry. At Blue Tomato you can find surfskates in a wide range of different types and here we present the recommendations from our experts.

Yow

A passion and dream turned reality. YOW surfskate was created by three Spanish brothers who wanted to be able to come together in the same way as they did surfing as youngsters, even when there might not be an ocean near by. YOW surfskate is the closest thing to surfing on land, and its goal is to give you the same happy and relaxed feeling as cruising a wave. Each board is handmade with love and affection in the YOW factory in Spain.

Carver Skateboards

Bringing surfing to the streets, but how? A waveless summer in Venice Beach inspired Greg Falk and Neil Carver to experiment. In an old garage behind their house, they began to tinker with skateboards and in particular the trucks. Nowadays, Carver surfskates are in a class of their own and you can train for your next surf session every day.

Arbor

Arbor is seriously committed to building ridable and wearable products made from the best possible materials. Taking the environment into account along the way, they set in place "Returning Roots". A program which helps to protect and restore forests and gives back to the planet, the people and places that make it possible for us all to skate, snowboard, and surf. Materials, shaping, art, and design come together beautifully in every aspect of Arbors handmade products.

Globe

What started out as a skateboard import business in Melbourne in the late '70s is now one of the biggest players on the skateboard market. Known for their "true to the roots" skate shoes, Globe have taken generations of skaters to heart and progressed alongside with them. With a longstanding tradition of supporting actions such as Go Skateboarding Day and helping to improve the quality of skate parks in Australia, Globe are as dedicated as they are hungry for innovation in skateboard technologies.

Santa Cruz

Santa Cruz was never created with the idea of making it big. All that mattered was surfing. A group of Santa Cruz surfers started making boards that allowed them to "surf the pavement" when waves were flat. Little did they know that they were building an empire that shines just as bright today as it did 40 years ago at it's inception. Santa Cruz are determined to help you shred hard and safe be it on the pavement, in the skate park or catching some gnarly waves.
